No excuses.

I’d say one of the biggest rubs when it comes to relationships is the lack of follow-through on agreed-upon expectations. Being too much ‘talk’ and very little ‘do’.

And when this is called out in couple’s therapy, there are usually a million different reasons as to why the follow-through didn’t happen. Some of them sound legit. But sadly, some of them also sound like excuses.

So this week, we’re throwing out all the excuses… no more, I forgot, I can’t remember, I got too busy. Nope, they no longer exist.

Because the truth is, if you really want to do something, you’re going to do it.

If you really want to remember something, you’ll figure out a way to.

And if it’s really important, then you won’t find an excuse.

Set the timers, arrange the alarms, and put it on your calendar. Don’t assume you’ll remember. Instead, MAKE SURE you remember.

Do everything and all the things to make sure it gets done, no matter what.

Don’t let excuses stand in the way… in love!

Here’s what you do:

Step 1: Be honest with yourself… have you been saying it and not doing it?
Step 2: Forgive yourself and move forward.
Step 3: Create the systems that will help you be successful and ditch those excuses.

You can do it.

Yours,

-A

P.S. If you’re realizing that you may have been hiding behind excuses when it comes to implementing change, let’s set up a time to talk. Don’t let a lack of follow-through in your relationship build a wall between the two of you.
