Let it fall away

It’s officially Fall!! My most favorite time of the year. And even though we’re still pushing 90-degree temperatures in Northern California, I’ll let my enthusiasm for autumn focus more on the date on the calendar than the weather outside.

Actually, it’s been almost a year since we moved into our new house and we are learning what that means for all the seasons. And what I have quickly learned is that fall around here means so… many… leaves. Like more leaves than a girl could imagine. So… many… leaves.

As they continue to fall from the trees and ALL of us continually work to keep them raked and piled up, I think there’s something relieving about all the old growth falling away.

In fact, I love the symbolism of Fall. The idea of harvesting, ripening, and abundance. As well as the idea of the dead and declining being pruned away.

What a perfect season to look at your own relationship and ask…

What is ripe and ready for harvest?

What do we have in abundance that we can celebrate or share?

What old communication patterns are ready to be pruned away?

What rituals of connection have become stagnant and need some fresh planting?

What is no longer serving us in love that we can let fall away?

So much richness can stem from these questions.

I encourage the two of you to find some quiet this week to tackle one (or all) of these questions. Spend some time together letting the beauty of Fall infuse into your relationship and decide what you’d like to fall away so new can grow in its place.

I can’t wait to hear how it goes.

Until next week,
