Don't Live Only Half a Life

One of the coolest parts of my job is seeing couples that have been struggling to identify or share how they feel begin to dive into the world of feelings AND healing.

I know this sounds odd, but when I watch it happen right in front of me, it feels like the moment that Dorothy steps out of her tornado spun house that dropped out of the sky and into Oz. She’s about to take her first step onto the yellow brick road and EVERYTHING starts to turn from black and white into the most vibrant assortment of colors.

This is the literal experience I see as couples begin to step out of fear and into feelings.

Because the truth is, when you’re stuffing your feelings or cutting yourself off from the bad in an attempt to not feel the hurt, you end up living your life in a dulled down and blocked out sort of way.

In fact, I believe….

When you guard your heart, you end up only living half a life.

Sure it may actually feel like guarding your heart or shutting out the bad is helpful, but it’s actually not. When you stop yourself from feeling the hard stuff, you actually end up preventing yourself from feeling the good stuff too.

And I don’t want that for the two of you. I want you to feel it all… because when you feel it all… even the bad… you get to experience the world in full color… the way it’s supposed to be experienced.

Take some time this week and dip your toe a little further into the pond of feelings and see all the lovely it has in store for you. If Dorothy can go on the adventure of her life into the world of Oz… you can too.

Yours,

-A

P.S. If it sounds really overwhelming to start “feeling it all”, please reach out for support. I’m here to encourage you along the way.
