How Do You Feel About Compromises?

Compromises are a tricky thing in your relationship.  Some folks believe that a compromise is just a fancy way of saying “I lost”.  Others think that a compromise is a necessary evil that must be done through gritted teeth.

Your mindset around compromising is actually really important. Because, if you reach a compromise with your partner, but are filled with resentment and animosity, then what’s the point of a middle ground at all?

The most vital part of a compromise is being able to better understand why your partner has a differing opinion than you and working to achieve a middle ground that is based on that new understanding of each other.

If your stance on compromise is purely based on frustration over what you “gave up” and not of curiosity, you’re missing a huge opportunity for growth.

I promise, being curious and having an open attitude when it comes to finding a compromise will help move you forward more than you can imagine.

Challenge yourself this week to work at finding a middle ground in your relationship, AND doing so with curiosity and openness.
