It's Time You Know The Truth

I’m here this Sunday to bust up some relationship lies.

In fact, one of the biggest lies I believe you’ve been told about your relationship is that you need to agree at all times and that if you can’t agree, then you need to find a way to agree to disagree.  The issue I have with this is that it sets an expectation of agreement as the gold standard and doesn’t even factor in understanding.

If we all worked a little bit harder at understanding each other, really amazing things could start to happen.  Having a better understanding of your partner’s point of view, the experiences that have impacted and shaped them and why they feel the way they feel is MUCH MORE powerful than just agreeing.

Take some time to think about the possibilities of what your relationship could look like if you focused more on understanding and placed less importance on needing to agree.  What would it look like? How would it feel? How much more connected could you be?

I honestly think you have the potential for more peace and more middle ground when you work to understand.

Be curious this week and see how you can seek understanding over agreement.

Until next week,

-A
