Today is the day. The day to make an adjustment, to take a deep breath, to give yourself a fresh start.
Because all you have is now.
When it comes to what has happened… all you have is now.
When it comes to what could happen… all you have is now.
So, what will you do with it?
Yes, we all make mistakes and thankfully it’s not the misstep that defines you. What defines you is what you do next.
Do you make an excuse for bad behavior or take the opportunity to call it out, own it, and do better going forward?
Sadly, we can be really quick to make excuses for bad behaviors. For checking out, scrolling by, or numbing out. For lashing out, for being short-tempered, for stepping into defense mode.
Life is tough… I get it… and yet the things that disconnect you from each other are not helped by making excuses.
The stuff that connects you is by owning your stuff. Admitting when you’ve made a mistake. Being willing to make an adjustment.
Don’t make excuses for bad behaviors. Own your stuff.
I know… without any doubt… that the more you can pivot from your mistakes, the more you can own your stuff. The more you can get out of the bad habit of justifying, minimizing, or responding with defensiveness… the more the two of you will thrive.
Put it into practice this week and see what shifts come from it. Own it and move forward from it.
