Think Before You Speak

One of my greatest flaws growing up was thinking I was funnier than I actually was. Combine that with a clear inability to think before I spoke and you can pretty much imagine my middle school awkwardness.

Thankfully I’ve learned that I’m funny… but not that funny AND that thinking before I speak is a huge asset to me and my relationships.  I still struggle at times with blurting out ill-timed sarcasm or not pausing to fully think my thought before I speak… but I’ve come a long way.

And I’m very grateful that I have.

Because the truth is, our words have power.  Tremendous power. Power to hurt.  Power to heal.  Power to inspire.  Power to discourage.

Your words are something that leave your mouth quickly and yet can stay in another’s memory for longer than you may realize.

My encouragement to you this week is to take time to think before you speak.  This will help you in the long run.

Don’t underestimate the value of thinking it twice before you say it once.

If you need help healing wounds that your words have created in love, please reach out. I’m here to support in any way I can.

Yours,

-A
