Don't mix bad words with bad moods.
I’m tired. There is no more simple way to put it. I’m working on getting a better sleep routine and breaking some bad habits such as eating dinner too late and not moving my body throughout the day.
And I hope that it’s going to help with my energy levels, but more importantly with my mood. Because when I’m tired… I tend to get cranky and we all know that the worse the mood, the more likely you are to be irritable with those around you.
One of my relationship rules is that you shouldn’t mix bad words with bad moods. And it’s an important one.
No matter how tired or overwhelmed I might be, it doesn’t give me the right to take it out on others… especially those that I do life with.
When you’re too tired to be productive in communication or too exhausted to be helpful to your other half… then you need to tap out for a bit. Take a break. Catch your breath. Take a nap.
When you’re in a bad mood, you need to have enough self-awareness to step back to not make matters worse. Because when you can take a step back, you tend to see things differently. A bit more hopeful. A bit more optimistic. And a bit more clear-headed.
I’m here cheering us all on as we work to get a bit more rest and a whole lot more perspective.
Until next week,
-A
