Laugh Together

I LOVE to laugh, but I’m actually not that funny.

My sense of humor tends to be a little dry, a bit dark and my timing usually stinks.  But besides all of that, there is nothing that lights me up more than making my husband laugh.

For the record, he’s really funny. Like the type that starts to tell a story and everyone leans in to hear more. I don’t have that gift.  In fact, I’ve learned to shut down a story partway through when I realize no one is still listening.

So thank goodness for my husband… he laughs at my jokes.  He does this awesome, super sincere, never to be doubted big laugh… and I can’t get enough of it.

And there is simply nothing that brings more lightness into a relationship than laughter.

Which is why I think it’s so important to…

Laugh at each other’s jokes.

Maybe your partner is goofy or witty or just good at making you smile. Well… let’s laugh about it.  Lighten the mood.  Take the time to laugh at the silly jokes, groan at the bad puns, and just have fun together!

You so got this!

P.S. For the record, when I talk about laughter or joking together, I’m not talking about snark hidden in “funny” or sarcasm. This is not cool but wrongly justified in “I was just being funny”. This stuff is not fun or nice. And if you’re struggling with this kind of “funny”, please reach out for support. I’m here to help make laughter and lightheartedness safe again in your relationship.
