What are your NON-NEGOTIABLES in life?

It’s weird to find my calendar busy again. Busy in different ways, but busy just the same. When the world turned on its ear this last Spring, I couldn’t even wrap my head around the big open spaces and the huge gaps of “free” time that had suddenly taken over my life. In between adjusting to the realities of distance learning and making huge pivots in my business, I certainly needed the time to adjust to the new abnormal.

And now, as the elements of life are beginning to come back online again, I’m noticing how quickly the simple routines of family dinners and evening walks are starting to get threatened again. The curious conversations and meaningful moments that arose out of slowed down meals and logging miles on the back trail behind our house were a huge part of what emotionally/physically/spiritually helped me to continue to show up these last months and I’m realizing that they’ve become non-negotiables for me, my marriage, and my family.

Don’t get me wrong, there is no one more excited than me of the idea of my kids returning to school and life beginning to look a bit more connected AND I want to absolutely safeguard the priority of it with the most important people that I do life with… my husband and my kids.

If you’re noticing your schedule begin to take shape again or even if you feel like life is still oddly on pause, I really encourage you to cement the habit of slowing down a bit and determine where your non-negotiables lie.

What gifts have arrived in the midst of your burden and how do you want to celebrate them moving forward?

Maybe taking the time to check in with one another and allowing it to be the priority is your non-negotiable too.

Until next week,

P.S. If the idea of “checking in” with each other feels so far off from where you’re at… reach out. I’m here to support and encourage you in getting back to the priority of “you”.
