Objectivity Starts with a Step Back

I come from a family that loves to do puzzles.  I’m actually quite impressed by how well my 8-year-old daughter can hammer out a 1000 piece puzzle with very little help.  In fact, she gets a little territorial of the process and likes to “ask” for help by telling me which area of the puzzle I can work on, and then as soon as she sees me making some progress, she jumps in to take over. I keep trying to tell her to step back and take a look at the whole puzzle in order to get a better idea of what she’s working on, not just the small little area she’s fixating on.

And the truth is, taking a step back can help in lots of areas in our lives. Your ability to create a little perspective can go a long way, especially in love. I know I’m not alone when I say that stepping back and seeing things with some better objectivity and perspective has never done me wrong.

And that is my encouragement to you this week.

Take some time to create perspective in love, because a bit of objectivity can help A LOT.

Whether you’re working on a puzzle with the family or trying to solve a problem in love… take a step back and gain some perspective… you may be pleasantly surprised by what your newly gained objectivity can offer you.

Until next week,
