Rearview Mirrors Are Not Objective

Do you know where possibility lies? In front of you!
Do you know where opportunity is? In front of you!
Do you know where different lives? In front of you!
Do you know where most of us look? Behind us!

Yup, as much as we all know that we need to spend our lives (and our relationships) being forward facing, we so often get stuck in the trap of looking back.

Back to what has happened.
Back to how it went wrong.
Back to what it shoulda, coulda, woulda been.

Yup, all the way back there.

And even though the past can be a great teacher, it isn’t the best student.

The past can certainly tell you, with some major confidence, how this went down or how that played out.

But it cannot, will not, and does not tell you how it’s going to be next time.

The past doesn’t show you how this time you can say it more calmly and grounded.
The past doesn’t encourage you to risk a bit more and fear a bit less.
The past doesn’t remind you to take that step closer to each other.

But... the present does.

The present requires you to make the choice based on now.
The present forces you to see what response the given situation calls for.
The present requires you to be there… present... so you can decide for yourself and not listen to what the darn ol’ past is yapping about.

I encourage you to…

Focus on the present, not the past.

And really see the opportunity that’s waiting for you!

You’ve so got this!
