The past is so yesterday.

I’m the queen of to-do lists. I like to make them, to joyfully check tasks off and I’ve even been known to add something I’ve already done to my list, just so I can get the satisfaction of marking it complete.

And as good as I am at creating a comprehensive to-do list, I’m downright terrible at actually making my way through them. I get distracted easily, I underestimate the time it takes to complete things, and completely overestimate the number of hours in a day (I blame the optimist in me).

I have a bad habit of moving what I didn’t finish yesterday to today’s list of demands. And, instead of continuing to give myself a hard time about it, I’m going to embrace the second best time to get something done… which is today.

Sure it would have been nice if I had gotten it done yesterday, but instead, I’m learning to embrace the reality that the best time to do it is now.

You can do nothing to change the past, the time is now.

Whether it’s beating yourself up for something you wish you would have done (or not done) in the past or hoping you can turn back the hands of time and do it differently, you simply can’t!

So instead, do it now.

Say ‘I’m sorry’ now.

Start that new habit today.

Do it now.

You cannot change what has already passed, but you can find a way to do it differently now.

I’m cheering for you.

P.S. I know that the past can really hurt and it’s hard to move forward from. I also know that all you have is now to make it different. Reach out if the two of you need support in healing so you can get more fully into the present. I got you.
