We Are All Guilty Of This At Times....
Did you know that your feelings are amazing? All of them? Yes, you’re reading this correctly. As difficult as it feels to experience some emotions, they’re all normal, good and important. In fact, your feelings are part of what makes you human and not a robot.
As amazing as they are, you can also fall into habits of discounting them, second guessing them, stuffing them down and denying them all together.
And yet the truth is, your feelings are meant to be shared, not stuffed.
Now, do you need to find a productive way to express them? Yes!
Do you need to be able to differentiate between thoughts and feelings in order to share them in the best way possible? Yes!
And, they STILL need to be shared not stuffed.
Take some time this week and challenge yourself to be clear about how you feel and share that with your partner.
*Pro tip: The best feeling statement looks like “I feel _______(insert feeling word) NOT “I feel that ________ (insert thought/accusation/blame).
