Stop looking for a 5-star relationship review!
I’ve officially finished my Christmas shopping, which is probably a world record for me. I did so much of it online this year that I feel like I’ve compared, contrasted, and checked 5-star reviews up the wazoo.
But, if I’m being honest, I always prefer to shop in person. I like the experience of walking around, drinking a cup of coffee, and soaking in all the usual chaos that comes with the holidays.
I’d also rather buy something based on touching, feeling, and seeing it than buy it based on someone else’s customer review.
Which has me thinking about where you get your information, your feedback, your reviews… especially in your relationships.
Each of us has a uniquely different partnership, and that is a beautiful thing. It means that what works for the two of you in your relationship doesn’t necessarily have to work in mine, especially if we’ve both thought hard about it on our own ends. There isn’t a one size fits all approach when it comes to people, and there certainly isn’t a one size fits all approach when it comes to relationships.
Which is why it’s so important to be making the decisions that work for you in your partnership. This is also why it’s so important to not compare your relationship to others. The two of you have a beautiful and unique light that is captured in the connection the two of you share. Don’t go looking (or scrolling) elsewhere to compare your relationship to a filtered version of someone else’s.
Simply put… don’t compare your partnership to anyone else’s. Let your love for each other shine on its own.
Celebrate all the things that are special and unique to the two of you. Let the light shine there… between the two of you.
You will find so much more good if you stop looking for a 5-star review on how to do love perfectly and instead dive into what the two of you have already created.
Yours,
-A
P.S. If you’re struggling to find the strengths the two of you share, don’t stay stuck there. Grab a notepad and get to talking… and celebrating… there are so many strengths there that may just need some dusting off. And, of course, reach out if I can be of support along the way.
