LAUGHTER, the best medicine...

Why is it that the harder things get, the more warped your sense of humor becomes?

The things I find myself laughing about are way out of bounds from where I was 9 months ago… at the start of this pandemic. Now, this doesn’t mean I’m taking things lightly or being thoughtless, it just means I really do believe laughter is the best medicine and apparently an odd sense of humor feels helpful.

In fact, when it comes to your relationship, I believe that anything that can help is fair game. You need light amongst all of the heavy. You can’t just carry the load, day in and day out; you have to find ways to lighten it. And humor is a great way to bring in the ridiculous.

I don’t care whether you’re laughing at the latest comedy stand-up routine or a variety show filled with stunts gone wrong, I so encourage you to bring some laughter into your home.

You and your relationships need the silly, the ridiculous, and the laughter in order to continue walking through a season of unpredictability and overwhelm. The holidays are looking incredibly different this year and you need to remember that amongst the hard you can also have the light.

Take some time to laugh together. It really is the best medicine.

See what grows this week as you encourage the silly between the two of you, and remind yourself that a sense of humor never grows old.

Until next week,

P.S. If the heaviness of the season has your relationship feeling weighted down, please reach out. I’m here to support.
