Families sure are interesting. Dynamic. Complicated. Wacky. Infuriating. Confusing. And, oh so interesting.

And the most reassuring part about whatever complicated, wacky, or wild family you were born into, the two of you get to create your own branch of the family tree.

Regardless of what you’ve walked through before coming together as a couple, YOU get to choose what you grow in your OWN family.

There is NOTHING more liberating (and often overwhelming) than knowing you get to curate a branch that reflects the legacy YOU want to leave behind.

And, what better time to reflect on this than Mother’s Day. Because I know today is a day that is filled with so much. So much celebration, so much sadness, so much confusion, so much, so much, so much.

And as hard or amazing as today may be for you, I hope that you give yourself and your mate the opportunity to see today as a celebration of your branch of the family tree.

There will never be a one size fits all approach to life and definitely not a one-size-fits-all for days on a calendar. But, what I hope is that the two of you can celebrate what you’re creating in your home and the tremendous ripple effect that it has around you.

So go for it… celebrate your own branch of the family tree!

And whether Mother’s Day is a day full of sleeping in and a mimosa or two OR one that stirs up memories of loss and longing, find a way to honor the celebration that feels right for you.

Because the truth is, the two of you are creating something really magical and it deserves to be celebrated!!
