Be Intentional In Your Communication!
You know how when you start your day by oversleeping and running late and it ends up being the same day where you spill coffee on yourself right before a big meeting, forget your lunch and end up burning dinner when you get home??
The days where the crummy way it starts is usually the crummy way it ends?
Well, communication can pretty much be the same. Starting off a conversation angry, frustrated, and/or reactive is usually a pretty good indicator that the conversation is going to end on the exact same note.
And who wants that??
Remember…
How you start a conversation is likely how you’ll finish it. Take the time to be intentional and invite each other into communication.
Don’t dive into communication when you’re jumbled up and full of unprocessed feelings and reactionary thoughts. Instead, take the time to catch your breath and ground yourself before speaking up.
I know that you and your partner will be better off if you work to start conversations in the way you hope to also finish them… grounded and connected.
You got this.
