Make Love Fun!

Who is in need of some fun right now?? I know that I am. As much as I’m trying to mix things up at home with my kids… as I run a business… and try to navigate their distance learning… oh and not lose my mind… I also struggle to find the levity in all of this. There are only so many knock knock jokes you can ask Alexa, or games of charades you can play before you're drained by the effort to “find fun”.

And yet fun is what we really need… in a big way. I’m in no way downplaying the significance of what we’re walking through right now, nor am I overlooking the extreme devastation this has caused. In fact, as a couple’s therapist, I am well aware of the need for seriousness in terms of healing and repairing, especially in our relationships.

But we can’t be so serious…all…the…time. In fact, the more that you can find fun in your relationship…time for silliness, for playfulness, for laughter, the more you can move through the harder times together.

Because love is meant to be fun. You don’t take it so seriously all the time.

Love is supposed to be the place you can find levity and lightness and a soft landing. I encourage you to find some fun together this week. Make room for laughter. Seek the silliness.

And if this feels so out of reach for you right now… start small… with work, you can bring the fun back into love… together.

Please know, I’m here to help in anyways that I can as I know and see the dramatic impact this season is having on partnerships right now. Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help the two of you get back on track.

Warmly,

- A

P.S. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! The love and nurturance that you pour into your children is amazing and I hope that you’re being celebrated today.
