The way to lasting love...

Today is my husband and I’s 12-year wedding anniversary. It’s crazy to write it, let alone say it out loud. We met 15 years ago on a blind date…one that I reluctantly went on to appease a friend’s unrelenting request to “meet this guy”.

As soon as I met my now-husband, I knew there was something about him that I wanted to know more about. His calm presence and ability to instantly make me laugh drew me in in a way I’d never experienced before. And here we are 15 years later, 12 years of marriage under our belt, twin babies (well they’re 8 now, but they’ll always be my babies) and A LOT of life we’ve lived together.

If I’m being honest, our love story isn’t “and 12 years later here we are”; because the truth is we’ve worked our butts off in our years together. There are periods of our life I’d rather not repeat and other ones I wish we could rewind and live it again so we could enjoy it in a whole new and different way. I’m grateful that we continue to show up for each other, even when it seems like an overwhelming thing to do.

I truly believe that showing up for each other in love is the bravest thing you can do. Showing up means that when you’re wrong, you just say so. Showing up means having that hard conversation. Showing up means choosing to release pain in order to make room for joy. Showing up means being brave even when vulnerability feels scary. Showing up for each other is one of the bravest things you can do.

This week’s encouragement is for all of us. As you navigate uncertainty, as you navigate fear, as you navigate change…continue working to be brave and show up for each other. Your partnership will certainly benefit from your bravery.

And if you need some extra support along the way, be sure and reach out… I don’t want you struggling on your own.

Until next week,

-A
