How Are You Spending Your Time?

I’m a color-coded calendar kind of gal and I married a spreadsheet-making kind of guy. Funny enough the combination makes it to where I know what’s on our calendar months in advance, but am pretty clueless about the family budget he’s got mapped out months in advance and vice versa for him on the calendar stuff.

And my color-coded calendar has it ALL ON THERE. Don’t even ask me about the reoccurring timers/alarms on my iPhone, because that’s just as embarrassing too. My secret to looking much more organized than I actually am… I have it all written down or set to remind me… because otherwise, I’ll forget.

It’s all quite ridiculous, but it works for me.

And the reason I love all the colors on my calendar is that it really allows me to see where and how I’m spending my time. If the colors that reflect date night, exercise, and family outings are pretty sparse, then I know I’m living life out of balance.

If the colors that represent meetings, clients, and work tasks are too heavy in the week or month, I know I’m walking on thin ice with my own rest and recuperation.

Because at the end of the day…

Your calendar needs to reflect the life and relationship you want.

And I truly believe that if you don’t remember (or can’t tell) the last time you took time for the two of you… or even yourself… then you’re likely living a life that is in opposition to how you want it to look.

Take some time this week to look at your calendars… together… and be sure that what is scheduled is a good representation of the life the two of you want to be creating.

Until next week,

-A

P.S. If you feel like life has taken over your calendar and time together is a far-off dream, reach out for support. Let’s work together to get your time AND your relationship back to the priority you want it to be.
