The Stories Of The Past
I love a good story. In fact, one of the things I love about my husband is that he’s a FANTASTIC story teller. In fact, his mom used to always say “don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story” (which I think is hysterical).
As great as stories are, they are sometimes not the most accurate, especially the ones you tell over and over. Because each time you tell that same story, the details change ever so slightly. Sometimes those changes make the story even better and sometimes those changes give the story roots that never should have been set in the first place.
The stories of your past can be hard ones. Ones that share about a time of hurt, of pain, of disappointment. They can tell you to play small, to play it safe, to not risk.
And yet your present requires you to do the opposite of what those old stories have “taught” you. In fact, your present requires you to be vulnerable and try.
No matter how loud those stories are from the past, love DOES require vulnerability and holding back and letting fear decide for you will NOT allow you to grow closer to your mate.
This week’s tip is intended to slow you down and look at your stories from the past, to be sure that they’re not telling you how to live in the present.
No matter what your past says... love requires vulnerability.
I know you can “re-write” what your past has told you.
Be brave my friend and get out that pen!
Yours,
-A
