The Power of a Thank You

My birthday is in December, and I was raised in a family by a lovely Mom who MADE ME WRITE thank you notes. So the combination of having my birthday and Christmas fall within a week of each other AND being forced to write thank you notes pretty much the moment after I opened the gift, made me a little annoyed.

As a kid, I never really understood why writing a thank you note made a difference. As a grown-up… I realize I was completely missing the point. Like COMPLETELY missing the point. Saying thank you… especially in a meaningful way is the epitome of feeling seen and feeling heard. Which really is our biggest need in relationships.

Taking a moment to write a note, to send a text, to make a call, and say “Thank you” allows those that impact you to feel seen AND also serves as a beautiful reminder that you have others around you that are leaning in and loving on you.

So my friends… as we wrap this week of seasonal gratitude…

Never underestimate the power of a meaningful “Thank You”.
